The Lazarus, Douglass, Tubman Community is an initiative that provides services for the incarcerated, formerly incarcerated, and their families. In addition, our redemptive initiative offers services to persons who, although never incarcerated, participate in destructive behaviors.

LDTC offers a variety of services which include:

  • Assisting families of the Incarcerated and Returning Citizens
  • Daily Open House
  • Holiday Gifts for Children of Incarcerated Parents
  • Repairing One’s Rap Sheet
  • Recovery Coaching – Alternatives to Recovery
  • Substance Abuse Counseling
  • Inside the Wall” Educational and Cultural Programs
  • Voter Registration Education
  • Referrals to Outside Agencies
  • HRA  Electronic Housing Application (2010E)

Like Lazarus, Douglass, and Tubman, many of our clients were once sentenced and considered dead and/or enslaved by society. And like Douglass and Tubman, these individuals have now decided to live their lives in a way that will free their brothers and sisters from behaviors leading to death and enslavement. Thus, our motto is:

“Resurrected to resurrect, freed to free.”

We appropriately make use of the word, “community,” because LDTC prides itself on providing a family-like environment for its clients. At LDTC, we strive for unity, togetherness, cooperation, and respect.

It should be noted that the major difference between LDTC and many other prison-related programs is the inclusion and involvement of our clients and their families in programming that empowers them to be responsible for themselves, their families, their communities, and the world.
